PARISH COUNCILLOR VACANCY
We have one vacancy on our Parish Council.
Please do have a think about joining us. We are a friendly bunch of people and we do genuinely want to make a difference to our two communities.
If you are interested please contact the Parish Clerk via the ‘get in touch’ link on this web page
The Parish Council recently met with the LLFA team and we have been informed that any occurence of flooding, no matter how small , internal to properties or external MUST be logged with NLC by calling the following numbers
01724 297000 during office hours
01724 276444 our of hours
NLC statistics are produced from the number of calls made to the council. West Halton is currently low down on the priority list so we need to keep pressure on NLC and the LLFA to take more actions.
The more pressure the community puts onto these 2 organisations, the more they must listen and take remedial actions.
Please do also take photographs noting the date and time of the flooding occurence and send these to the clerk.
In Bloom Grant Funding
NLC have awarded the Parish Council £309 funding towards the purchase of plants for the village planters. West Halton and Coleby Parish Council would like to thank NLC for their generous funding.

Cemetery Ownership Transfer Update
As of October 2025, the transfer of land ownership still has not been completed by NLC due to anomolies between the map registered on HM Land Registry and the information NLC have stored in their system.
The Parish Council has now received extra funding from NLC to cover the cost of cutting the cemetery grass. Our contractor has attended and the grass has now been cut. The contractor will continue to make several more cuts this season until the extra grant funds have been exhausted.
A separate contractor will carry out an Autumn clean up cut of the hedge surrounding the cemetery
If any residents have concerns regarding anything relating to the cemetery, we ask that people contact NLC and not West Halton and Coleby Parish Council. NLC do own this land – attached is a copy of the information held on HM Land Registry and a copy of the map, for residents information. NLC staff located at within the cremation office may state that West Halton cemetery does not come under their juristriction. This is not true as the land is registered to NLC

WEST HALTON AND COLEBY ALLOTMENTS
The water will be available to all allotmenteers during the driest months of the year May – September inclusive. All allotmenteers are all environmentally concious and they will all continue to capture as much rainwater as possible and to utilise this source prior to using mains water.
We will have one vacant plot at the start of January 2026. The annual rent is £25.00 per plot. If you are interested in taking on an allotment please contact the clerk via the ‘contact us’ section.
The Land Registry application is still an on going project.
West Halton Village field
We have a beautiful village field (technically not a village green) which the council rent from the Church Commission on an annual basis. The current lease is for 20 years and is due to expire in 2033. We are extremely lucky to have this field available for all residents to enjoy however we are very limited as to what can happen on the field.
All residents are welcome to use this open space for recreation however residents are reminded that they do so at their own risk
Our village field risk assessment can be viewed via this link
West Halton and Coleby village field risk assessment June 2025
Are residents aware that a large section of the field is registered with Historic England?? No development whatsoever, even a hole in the ground, in the registered area, is permitted without first obtaining permission from Historic England, The Church Commission and the Department of Culture, Media and Sports.
The Parish Council have carried out a rolling programme of wall repairs, repairing a section every year for the last 5 years, however we are now left with the severely damaged sections. As this is a registered Heritage Area, the council is actively seeking the possibility of obtaining some heritage funding which would be utilised towards future wall repairs.
